 The Child Development Assistant facilities educational curriculum and care of children, working under the direction of Lead Teacher.

         Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:·       

          take care of each child by implementing a plan of activities provided by Lead Teacher that is suitable to each particular age and developmental stages of the children; 

·        help Lead Teacher assess the developmental stages of the children in that age group; communicate with parents, especially when Lead Teacher is unavailable;  

·        completing workshops for 24 hours of annual training, attend staff meetings and complete annual CPR and First Aid Training;

·        stay current and abiding by Texas minimum standards, NAEYC criteria and Center policies and philosophy.

 A high school diploma or equivalent with a Child Development Associate(CDA) certification is required.  Associate degree in Child Development is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, or Human Development is desirable. Degree will be considered in lieu of CDA certification.

 A minimum of one year work experience in childcare center is required. Experience in college childcare center is a plus.

 Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of constituents. Strong knowledge of brain development in young children and development states of children is essential.

 Candidate must possess strong problem solving skills with the ability to independently seek solutions and devise recommendations.

 Must also possess the ability to respond quickly, calmly, and with background knowledge in First Aid/CPR during emergency situations.

 Candidate must have FBI Fingerprint Background on the file through state licensing.
