Q: How do you screen counselors?
A: We require our counselors to be at least 18 (directors are 21 & older). All staff and counselor assistants go through an extensive screening process including interviews, personal reference checks and annual background checks.

Q: What kind of training does the staff receive?
A: Prior to camp, staff participate in training where they learn risk management, emergency procedures, positive behavior management, Camp Fire policies and how to teach and supervise activities. All Staff are certified in First Aid and CPR.

Q: How are campers grouped?
A: Campers are placed in grade groups as follows:
Kindergarten & 1st
2nd & 3rd
4th & 5th
6th – 8th

Q: What age children can attend Camptivity Day Camp?
A: Camptivity accepts children entering grades K – 8th.

Q: Where do I drop-off / pick-up my child?
A: Arrival
On the first day of camp please arrive early to allow extra time for check-in. When entering the gate at LMRA, please identify yourself as a Camptivity participant (on your first day, you will be provided with a sign to put on your car dash). Continue driving straight and pass the second guard to your left. Proceed on the road staying to the left. Cross the low water crossing and proceed up the hill. River Park Pavilion will be on your right. This is where all children need to be dropped off and picked up each day. You must bring your child into the building and sign in and out each day. This is a good time for us to meet you and communicate with you about your child and their experience at Camptivity.

If you would like to participate in Before-care, this must be indicated on your registration form. We want to ensure every child has the proper child/staff ratios. If you have not added Before-care to your registration and need to, please let us know when you sign in on Monday morning. Before-care fees apply anytime prior to 7:50AM.

Departure
Camptivity ends at 6PM and a fee of $1 per minute will apply for late pick-up. To ensure the safety of your child at all times, please list on the consent anyone other than yourself that will be picking up your child. They will also be required to show their driver’s license for identification.

Q: What should my child wear?
A: As some of our fun activities can be messy, we advise you to dress your child in comfortable and casual play clothes. Shoes are required (no sandals, except to wear to the pool and back). Please send proper outerwear as we spend time outdoors every day (weather permitting). A cap is recommended for the outdoors and ensure your child has sunscreen on before arriving each day. Send a raincoat if it is raining.

Q: What do you do about the heat?
A: Even though it is hot outside, camp is a great place to be! Campers easily adapt to being in the summer heat by staying hydrated, resting during the hottest part of the day and wearing cool cotton clothing. Camp staff are trained to recognize heat problems and take steps to minimize them. We plan quiet activities during the hottest part of the day and campers swim daily.

Q: How do I sign my child up for swim lessons?
A: The American Red Cross "Learn to Swim" program is offered through LMRA for an additional fee. Each of the sessions includes eight lessons taking place over two consecutive weeks. Lessons start at 8AM and campers must be attending Camptivity during the entire swim session. Please call the LMRA pool manager at 817-777-2107 ext 101 to register.

Q: Can I buy another Camptivity t-shirt?
A: Each child will receive a Camptivity t-shirt the first week that he/she attends. If you would like to purchase an additional t-shirt, they will be on sale for $10. Campers must wear their t-shirt for all field trips.

Q: What if my child loses some items at camp?
A: We have a Lost & Found for just such a thing! The most important thing to do before you come to Camptivity is to label everything!! Secondly, do not send anything that is irreplaceable. Send older clothes, towels, etc., that if lost or misplaced, you can do without. Learning to be responsible for your own items is a big lesson at camp. Please check the Lost and Found before leaving camp on Fridays. All unclaimed items will be held at the Camp Fire Resource Center through September 30. Articles will not be held after this date.

Q: Do you offer scholarships?
A: No, we do not have scholarships available for Camptivity.

Q: When is before-care?
A: Before-care starts at 6:30AM at a fee of $5.00 per day. Please do not arrive before any earlier as there will be no Camptivity staff on duty before 6:30AM. Campers arriving before 7:50AM must register and pay for Before-care (fee is waived for Lockheed Martin employees).

Q: What is your payment policy?
A: Each weekly fee is due no later than Monday by 6PM of that week. Payments made after this time will have a $5 late charge added per child to the weekly fee. Automatic charges to your credit cards must be set-up in advance and will be run on the Friday prior to the attendance on Monday.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Cancellations must be made in writing to the Registrar by the Monday prior to the week you are canceling. No refunds will be processed after this date. Your deposit will be moved to the missed week and all remaining weeks at Camptivity will be cancelled if this process is not followed. You must contact the Camptivity Registrar to re-register for your remaining weeks and pay appropriate fees.

If you must cancel, provide written notice only to the Camptivity Registrar at Camptivity@CampFireFW.org
(you must receive a return confirmation notice from Registrar) OR fax cancellation notice to 817-222-2812.
