Day Camp at Lockheed Martin Recreation Area

Camp helps build confidence, independence and a love of nature in children. Camptivity combines all the benefits of traditional camp experiences with the flexibility and convenience of a central location. Based at the Lockheed Martin Recreation Area (LMRA) in southwest Fort Worth for more than 10 years, the staff transforms the facility into a fun-filled day camp for campers who are entering kindergarten through eighth grade. A counselor assistant program is available for students entering ninth through 12th grade.

From swimming and team sports to miniature golf, archery, fishing, outdoor living skills and arts and crafts, campers experience all the adventures summer day camp has to offer. Each activity is designed to teach new skills, encourage friendships and instill a sense of accomplishment.

Named best day camp by Nickelodeon’s Parents’ Pick Award, campers experience days full of adventure under the supervision of trained, qualified and caring adults. Camptivity offers the flexibility to register for only the weeks that are needed.

Age Groups

K - 1st Grade
Campers entering kindergarten and first grade stay with the same group all week and attend daily activities in small groups under the supervision of counselors and counselor assistants. This provides younger campers with the guidance they need to navigate the facility and parents the peace of mind knowing trained staff will be with the campers all week long.

2nd - 5th Grade
Campers entering second through fifth grade select their own activities by signing up each morning by 8:15 a.m. While this group rotates through their activities, they are subdivided in age groups that pair second and third grades together and fourth and fifth grades together. Based on their activities they rotate through the different activity zones of Camptivity under the supervision of both counselors and counselor assistants.

6th - 8th Grade
Youth Adventure Program
Campers entering sixth through eighth grades have the additional benefit of participating in the Youth Adventure Program. In addition to the traditional Camptivity activities, these campers participate in community service projects. During different weeks in the summer they also learn about CPR, first aid and participate in babysitting safety training and visit with business leaders during career exploration days. The added programming for pre-teens allows them to expand their leadership, teamwork and communications skills while earning volunteer credits that help with a number of school and job applications in the future.

The Youth Adventure Program provides an added level of independence for the older campers to focus on their unique activities away from younger campers. Some special field trips geared toward an older camper’s interests are set up throughout the summer.

9th - 12th Grade
Counselor Assistant Program
Students entering ninth through 12th grade can apply to the Counselor Assistant (CA) program. Through helping younger campers and assisting adult counselors with daily activities, CAs learn responsibility, leadership and earn community service hours that can be used on job, college and scholarship applications. There is a nominal weekly fee of $35 to cover program costs. Applicants may apply for up to five weeks, but space is extremely limited!

Contact the Camp Director at 817-831-2111, ext. 153 to request an application and schedule an interview.
